Our Diagnostic Services
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An ECG is a quick, non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of your heart. It is often the first test performed if you are experiencing chest pain or an irregular heartbeat.
- What happens: Sticky electrodes are placed on your chest, arms, and legs to record your heart rhythm on a graph.
- Duration: The test takes about 5–10 minutes.
- Results: Your GP can interpret the results immediately.
24-Hour Holter Monitor
Sometimes, heart irregularities don’t happen during a short consultation. A Holter monitor is a portable device that records your heart rhythm continuously for 24 hours while you go about your normal daily activities.
- Used for: Investigating palpitations, dizziness, or unexplained fainting.
- The Process: We fit the small device in the clinic (it is worn on a belt or strap with leads attached to your chest). You wear it for 24 hours and return it the next day for analysis.
24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitor
Also known as Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), this test measures your blood pressure at regular intervals over a 24-hour period.
- Used for: Diagnosing hypertension (high blood pressure) more accurately than a single clinic reading. It helps rule out “white coat hypertension” (where BP is high only when seeing a doctor) and checks how well your blood pressure medication is working.
- The Process: You wear a blood pressure cuff on your arm connected to a small monitor on your waist. It inflates periodically throughout the day and night to take readings.
Echocardiograms (Fortnightly Service)
We are pleased to offer on-site echocardiograms, saving you a trip to a specialist centre or hospital.
- What is it? An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. It uses sound waves to create a moving picture of your heart, allowing doctors to see the size, shape, and pumping strength of your heart chambers and valves.
- Availability: This specialist service is available at the clinic fortnightly.
- Booking: Appointments are essential and require a referral from your GP or specialist.
