IV Infusion Therapy

Our dedicated treatment room is fully equipped to provide intravenous (IV) infusion therapy. This service allows patients to receive essential treatment directly into the bloodstream for faster and more effective treatment, all while avoiding a costly and time-consuming hospital visit.

Iron Infusions

Iron deficiency is a common cause of fatigue and low energy. While oral iron tablets work for many, they can sometimes cause stomach upset or fail to raise iron levels quickly enough.

We offer IV iron infusions for the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia.

  • Who is it for? Patients with low iron levels who have not responded to oral supplements or cannot tolerate them due to side effects.
  • The Procedure: The infusion typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes. You will be monitored by one of our practice nurses throughout the process to ensure your safety.
  • Outcome: Many patients report a significant improvement in their energy levels within a few weeks of treatment.

Aclasta Infusions (Osteoporosis)

We administer Aclasta (Zoledronic acid) infusions for the management of osteoporosis.

  • What is it? Aclasta is a bisphosphonate medication that helps to strengthen bone density and reduce the risk of fractures.
  • Frequency: Unlike oral tablets which must be taken weekly or monthly, Aclasta is a convenient once-yearly infusion.
  • The Procedure: The infusion takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes, followed by a short observation period.

IV Fluids (Saline Infusions)

Dehydration can occur quickly due to severe illness, gastroenteritis, or pregnancy-related sickness. We offer IV saline rehydration to help restore your fluid balance without the need for a long wait in a hospital emergency department.

  • Hyperemesis Gravidarum: We specifically support pregnant women suffering from severe morning sickness (hyperemesis). Rapid rehydration can provide significant relief from nausea and fatigue.
  • General Dehydration: For patients recovering from acute viral illnesses who are unable to keep fluids down.

How to Arrange an Infusion

Infusions are medical procedures that require careful monitoring and a prescription.

  1. Consultation: You must book an appointment with your GP first. They will review your blood tests, discuss the risks and benefits, and provide a prescription for the medication.
  2. Booking: Once the medication has been prescribed, our reception staff will book you into the treatment room at a time when nursing support is available.
  3. Cost: Please note that private fees apply for infusion services to cover the cost of consumables and nursing time.
